The third China-Brazil Photovoltaic Industry Development and Cooperation Mechanism Meeting was held in Shanghai on June 9, 2025, marking a key milestone in bilateral renewable energy collaboration. Co-hosted by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology International Economic and Technical Cooperation Center, China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA), Brazil's Apex-Brasil, and the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association, the event gathered over 100 representatives from nearly 100 Chinese and Brazilian enterprises, alongside senior officials and industry leaders.
Key speakers included Wu Guogang (Second-level Inspector of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology), Lucas Lima (Brazilian Consulate General in Shanghai), Yang Xubo (Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District), and Sun Guangbin (CPIA Deputy Secretary-General). Sun highlighted Brazil as China's second-largest PV module export market, noting broad cooperation potential in standards mutual recognition, financial collaboration, and diversified PV applications.
Song Xiaoming (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) emphasized that China-Brazil PV cooperation sets a model for BRICS nations. Brazilian representatives, including Wang Qian (Apex-Brasil) and Rodrigo Sauaia (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association), outlined Brazil's pro-renewable policies (e.g., New Industrial Growth Plan) and projected growth in utility-scale PV, distributed generation, energy storage, and green hydrogen ahead of COP 30.
Standards and quality oversight were central topics. Pei Huichuan (China Electronics Standardization Institute) advocated for a China-Brazil standards mutual recognition mechanism, while Millene Cleto da Fonseca (INMETRO) shared updates on Brazil's PV product quality testing efforts.
Corporate sessions featured insights from Gao Jing Solar, Chint Solar, Clean Energy Latin America, and Solar Group, covering high-efficiency modules, multi-scenario applications, and Brazil's PV-storage market trends.
The meeting strengthened bilateral dialogue platforms. CPIA will continue organizing exchanges to expand collaboration in standards alignment, technological innovation, and green energy deployment, contributing to global energy transition.
